Examples of Social Service Blue Ribbon Opportunities

• Mentor and tutor at-risk students in partnership with our local schools

• Conduct food and clothing drives regularly for Open Door ministries

• Get involved with "Never Alone," an annual conference addressing the needs of single parents (660-826-2160)

• Form a group to help winterize the homes of single mothers and senior adults

• Help build ramps for those who have accessibility issues in their homes

• Tutor children and adults in English

• Develop a friendship with someone with a different ethnic or cultural background

• Participate in the building of new homes through Habitat for Humanity (660) 826-1918)

• Volunteer at a social service organization: Boys and Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri (660) 826-8331) , a local church, Pettis County Community Partnership (660) 827-0560), Salvation Army (660-826-1525), or Open Door (660-827-1613)

• Volunteer to serve meals at the Community Cafe (660-287-0958) or deliver Meals on Wheels (660-826-0713)

• Volunteer to serve meals during the summer months to children through the Food-4-Kids program at Immanuel United Methodist Church.  Call the church at 660-826-3553 for more details.

Fun, Fellowship and Food - Attend the fund-raiser dinner offered the third Thursday of every month at The Salvation Army, 1200 East Broadway. Tickets are $3 at the door.
