Safe Route to School Grant Writers Honored

The Missouri Department of Transportation recently awarded ten Safe Routes To School grants in the mid-Missouri area totaling $589,802.44. The grants provide safer biking and walking accommodations for students by funding infrastructure projects and public awareness and outreach efforts.  Thanks to the grant written by Tammy Lewis, Marina Scheiner, and Victoria Kottman, the City of Sedalia was awarded $248,900.95 to construct sidewalks and crosswalks on Ingram Street for students at the Sedalia Middle School.  The ladies were presented a Blue Ribbon Certificate for their efforts on Friday, August 3, 2007.  Pictured above from left to right are Judy Parkhurst, Tammy Lewis, Marina Scheiner, Doug Ebersold, Victoria Kottman, and Mayor Bob Wasson.
