• Attend all Steering committee meetings (4th Tuesday of every month at 8:00) and committee meetings and functions, such as special events, Blue Ribbon Certificate presentations, and fundraisers
• Be informed about the BRV mission, themes and objectives.
• Review agenda and supporting materials prior to steering and committee meetings.
• Serve on committees or task forces and offer to take on special assignments.
• Inform others about the BRV.
• Suggest possible nominees to the steering committee who can make significant contributions to the work of the BRV
• Refrain from making special requests of the staff.
• Assist the Steering committee in carrying out its financial responsibilities, such as approving the budget, reviewing the BRV’s financial statements and fundraising
Time Commitment
1 meeting per month – Fourth Tuesday 1 hours x 12 months 12 hours

Annual strategic planning session 4 hours 4 hours
Two BRV fundraising events 4 hours 4 hours

Membership requirements: Must be involved in one of the six focus areas or be a member of a BRV committee (publicity). A maximum of three representatives from each focus area will be considered for membership. The chair of each subcommittee will bring forth candidates for the BRV steering committee to consider. BRV will consider new members on an ongoing basis.

Responsibility of Officers:
Chair: The Chair shall preside at all meetings of the BRV Steering Committee. The chair’s term shall be 1 year, and shall be limited to 2 terms.
Vice Chair: The Vice Chair shall, in the absence or disability of the Chair, perform any or all functions of the office of Chair. The term for the Vice Chair shall be 1 year.
Secretary/Treasurer: This function shall be filled by the Sedalia Chamber of Commerce Staff. Chamber Staff shall keep and distribute the minutes of the BRV Steering Committee meetings; and provide a BRV finance statement to the committee monthly.
Nominating Committee: The nominating committee shall consist of the immediate past chair, the Sedalia Chamber of Commerce vice president for community service, and a member appointed by the chair. The purpose of the nominating committee will be to identify and present for approval a slate of candidates for the Chair and Vice Chair of the Blue Ribbon Vision Steering Committee.
